Golden Owl

Golden Owl offers both one-on-one tutoring for individual students and group tutoring for groups of 2 to 5 students. We believe group tutoring is a wonderful resource for students who would like to increase their scores and learn well from their peers. This is particularly useful for students who would like to take the course with their friends but want a more individualized environment than a large classroom.

 

We recommend that students start their tutoring sessions within twelve weeks of the test date, ideally allowing six to eight weeks of regular tutoring sessions. 

 

One-on-one and small group tutoring packages include practice exams, which the tutor will grade and go over with students. Hourly tutoring is intended for the student who needs just a bit of extra help or for students who wish to purchase additional hours at the end of their packages. 

 

Tutoring sessions are typically scheduled once or twice per week for 1.5-2 hours each for ISEE/SSAT students and 2-3 hours each for SAT and LSAT students. The tutor will work with the student's schedule to solidify a set schedule at the beginning of the tutoring course. This schedule can be changed by the tutor or students if necessary, but we recommend sticking to the schedule as closely as possible. We will require our tutors to do the same. 

 

The prices listed below do not include the cost of materials. Tutors will often provide practice sets and other materials free of charge, but the student will be required to purchase some commercial test prep books. This cost is usually under $50.00 per student.

 

Cancellation:

Cancelling less than 24-hours prior to the session start time or failing to attend a scheduled session will result in being charged for 50% of the "by the hour" session cost for one-on-one tutoring. If a small group tutoring session goes forward as scheduled and any student does not attend, regardless of cancellation, that student will forfeit the session - there will be no makeup session for the student.
